This South African species look like small stones throughout their life. As they grow they split open down the middle and fresh foliage emerges causing the old foliage to die back. It is best to avoid watering when 'split' starts. Lithops will use the existing water from its old foliage to feed the emerging foliage! Mature plants can produce small yellow flowers in the late summer or early fall.
*You're welcome to specify in the notes what kind of lithop you would prefer. We'll do our best to accomadate!
Care:
Lithops do best when provided as much light as possible for an indoor setting. Some direct sun will help maintain a vibrant color! They will not do well in lower light conditions. You will really only need to water these when foliage starts to wrinkle when the soil is 100% dry. This could be as seldom as once a month if not longer! When repotting use a very coarse cacti soil that will drain water well.
