This is a really interesting species of Ficus native to parts of Mexico. These form a caudex and or a swelled up trunk near the base, they call these “Rock figs” as the caudex will actually grow upon and over rocks. These aren’t commonly cultivated and it’s quite excited to have these in.
Care:
We recommend watering every 10-12 days during spring through fall. They are deciduous trees so in the winter they may or may not drop leaves to conserve energy, DO NOT toss it, just keep watering it roughly every 2-3 weeks during the winter, and in the spring you’ll get a whole fresh set of foliage. They love direct sun if you have it but a bright room will do just as good.
All of our plants are ethically sourced from certified U.S. nurseries. We strongly condemn the poaching of plants or wild collection. This is a really interesting species of Ficus native to parts of Mexico.
