  • Brassanthe Bill Worsley is a primary intergeneric orchid hybrid created in 1966 by crossing Brassavola nodosa (seed parent) with Guarianthe aurantiaca (pollen parent). It typically produces bright yellow to orange-toned blooms (inherited from G. aurantiaca) with the form and relative ease of growth of B. nodosa. This hybrid is valued by hobbyists for its compact size and colourful flowers.

    Care Guide

Here’s how to care for Brassanthe Bill Worsley:

    Light
Provide bright, indirect light to moderate direct sun. Aim for similar conditions as you would for Cattleya-type orchids: approximately 3,000–4,000 foot-candles, or a bright east or lightly shaded south facing window.

    Temperature

    • Daytime: around 22-30 °C (72-86 °F)

    • Nighttime: drop to 16-18 °C (60-65 °F)
This hybrid tolerates warm temperatures thanks to its parentage.

    Watering & Humidity

    • Water thoroughly when the potting mix begins to dry on top, but don’t let it stay bone dry for long.

    • Maintain moderate to high humidity (50-70%) and good air circulation to avoid fungal issues.

    • If mounted, water more frequently (as mounts dry faster); if potted in a loose mix, allow a brief drying period between waterings.

    Potting / Medium

    • Use a well-draining medium such as large bark chunks + perlite + charcoal or an open orchid mix.

    • Because this hybrid is compact, a small to medium pot is sufficient.

    • Repot every 2-3 years or when the medium breaks down or roots begin to crowd.
