*Note that these Haemanthus will ship with foliage but leaves will begin to die back in the next few weeks/months. Their dormancy period is approaching.* Haemanthus humilis is an interesting plant to add to your collection. Especially if you're into uncommon bulbs. They produce large tongue-like leaves that are hairy on the undersides.  They usually keep just two of their fuzzy-flat leaves. This Haemanthus has beautiful pink-white blooms, they typically bloom around late Summer to early Fall. This plant will go through a slight dormancy period, and don't need to be watered as frequently. Their dormancy period is from spring to summer. Do not panic when the foliage starts to die back in spring, just as everything else starts to grow out. Leaves can be expected to fully die off before returning to just a bulb in a pot during the start of summer. Once you see new growth emerging, you can resume heavier waterings.

CARE

They prefer strong direct sun and would thrive in your brightest window.  You can water this plant once every 10-12 days during its active growing season. They do appreciate a drying out slightly in between waterings, but not for too long. If the bulb ever is wrinkled during the growing season, it means its going too dry between waterings! Plant them in a very coarse mix, like a cactus mix!

All of our plants are ethically sourced from certified U.S. nurseries. We strongly condemn the poaching of plants or wild collection.
