Kokedama is a method of bonsai originating from Japan. It compacts the roots of a plant and encases them in moss. The kanji for kokedama literally translates to 'moss ball!'

A really lovely Calathea. Easy to care for! They are known their distinct markings and red undersides. During the day, their leaves are horizontal to photosynthesize and at night, their leaves close up vertically. These kokedama are roughly 4" in diameter.

Calathea do best in a bright filtered light while taking care to avoid any harsh direct sun. Calathea can also tolerate low light conditions very well! Water every 7-10 days as the moss on the kokedama feels very dry. To water, either rest them in a dish of water or submerge them in a bucket for roughly 10-15 minutes until the moss feels hydrated and spongy.

All of our plants are ethically sourced from certified U.S. nurseries. We strongly condemn the poaching of plants or wild collection.
