Rhipsalis Kokedama (苔玉)

Rhipsalis Kokedama (苔玉)

Kokedama is a method of bonsai originating in Japan. It compacts the roots of a plant and encases them in moss.

Rhipsalis have always had a soft spot in our hearts. Like many jungle cacti these will grow high up in the canopy amongst ferns & orchids and cascade down from branches like a chandelier. These eventually will shoot out these long stems and produce that chandelier like growth with strong light. These kokedamas are mini! They are about 3" in diameter.

Water every 7-10 days as the moss on the kokedama feels very dry. To water, either rest them in a dish of water or submerge them in a bucket for roughly 10-15 minutes until the moss feels hydrated and spongey. Provide strong filtered light to direct sun.

All of our plants are ethically sourced from certified U.S. nurseries. We strongly condemn the poaching of plants or wild collection.
